Metadata around the video, not inside its frames

Free AI Wiper checks supported MP4 and MOV container boxes for portable provenance. These include recognized C2PA records, XMP carried in supported UUID boxes, and certain generator or ordinary metadata boxes. You can remove detected AI metadata separately from ordinary metadata.

The cleaner does not decode and re-encode the video. It changes selected container metadata, then inspects the result. This helps preserve the media data, but it cannot remove a logo, caption, visible watermark or signal embedded in the video or audio itself.

AI labels and generation parameters

The processor also resolves numbered metadata entries through their key table. Supported AIGC, workflow and prompt entries can be detected and removed even when the value does not contain a generator name. This covers the supported MP4 metadata layout and the headerless QuickTime variant.

Removing an AIGC record is metadata cleanup, not validation of its label signature. Ordinary tags are preserved unless you select ordinary metadata removal. File length and media offsets stay unchanged.

Before you share a video

  1. Select an MP4 or MOV of up to 250 MiB in the cleaner.
  2. Review which supported boxes were found. A box classified as ordinary metadata is not automatically an AI marker.
  3. Choose what to remove and check the verified output before downloading.

Some services create a new file or add their own labels after upload. Cleaning the local file cannot control those later actions. Read why an AI label may remain before treating a platform label as evidence that cleaning failed.

What a clean result says

The selected supported metadata boxes were absent when Free AI Wiper inspected the output. It says nothing about whether the footage is real, AI-generated, or how another service will classify it. For the standard behind portable signed provenance, see Content Credentials explained.

For frame watermarks, visible marks and platform records, read how AI video detection works. The cleaner does not test those other signals.

Local processing and limits

MP4 and MOV inspection reads small container headers and supported metadata from file slices, skipping the encoded video and audio payloads. Cleaning retains unchanged file ranges and verifies the metadata edits before download. You can cancel processing and choose another file.

The file limit remains 250 MiB. Container metadata, including movie sample tables, must fit within 8 MiB, with at most 10,000 root boxes. Damaged or over-budget containers are refused rather than producing a partial inspection. These limits do not measure video duration; a long clip with large sample tables can exceed the metadata budget.

Instagram Reels and other social uploads

Use the Instagram Reels AI-label checklist to review the exported video, cover image and publishing disclosure separately. For other networks, see Facebook AI-label troubleshooting and LinkedIn video Content Credentials. The social media AI-label overview explains which guide fits each situation.
