The photo looks ready. You have adjusted the background, fixed a distraction or used an AI-assisted editing tool. Before posting it, check the exported file, not just the preview in your editor.
This checklist separates three things that are easy to confuse: the visible image, information stored inside the file, and the label a platform may apply after upload.
Keep the original and your working file
Save a separate export for sharing. Keep the camera original and editable project somewhere safe. Metadata and provenance can be useful for your records. Cleaning a sharing copy should not mean throwing away that history.
Use a clear filename so you can distinguish the original, the export and the cleaned copy later.
Inspect the actual export
A preview does not tell you whether the exported file carries Content Credentials, generator information or private metadata. Select the file you plan to post in FreeAIWiper to inspect supported signals locally in your browser.
Read what the inspection reports. A supported signal being absent is not proof that the image has never been edited with AI. Inspection has a defined scope.
Before selecting a tool for this step, read our guide to choosing an online metadata cleaner. It explains what to check about file uploads, format support and output verification.
Decide what belongs in the shared copy
You do not have to remove everything simply because it is present. Consider whether you want to retain provenance or attribution, and whether private details belong in a public export.
If you choose cleanup, FreeAIWiper can remove supported AI metadata and optionally selected private metadata. It processes selected content in your browser without uploading it. Keep the original unchanged and work with the downloaded copy.
Open the downloaded file
Make sure you are looking at the cleaned output, not the earlier export. Check that it opens, looks as expected and is the file you intend to share. FreeAIWiper reinspects the rebuilt file before offering the download, but a final visual review is still useful.
Treat the platform label as a separate decision
Removing portable metadata does not guarantee that a social network will omit an AI label. Platforms may also use their own detection or creator disclosure. Follow any applicable disclosure requirements.
For the distinction in more detail, read our guide to AI labels and metadata.
The goal is not to make a file supposedly undetectable. It is to understand the copy you are sharing and make a deliberate choice about the supported information it contains.
